Set Your Preferences

Customize date format, time format, timezone display, and other personal display preferences.

Preferences control how Slate displays dates, times, and certain UI elements. They apply only to your account, not to other members of your company.

Accessing preferences

  1. Click your account avatar in the sidebar
  2. Select Preferences

Available preferences

Date FormatControls how dates are displayed and entered throughout the app. Options: System (matches your browser's locale), DD/MM/YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY, YYYY-MM-DD
Time Format12-hour or 24-hour clock display
Timezone DisplayHow timezone abbreviations are shown: Code (e.g. EST, IST), GMT offset, or UTC offset
File PreviewsShow or hide image and video thumbnails on file upload fields
New Item CardControls the "create item" button at the top of each pipeline stage: Full (tall card), Compact (single row), or Hidden
Theme ModeLight, Dark, or Auto (follows your system preference)
Required Field IndicatorHow required and optional fields are marked in forms: Asterisk, Default Required, Default Optional, or Classic

Each preference is saved as soon as you select it, no separate save step required.

Date Format, Time Format, Timezone Display, and File Previews apply to your account and carry over to any device you sign in on. Theme Mode, New Item Card, and Required Field Indicator are saved to the current browser only and need to be set again on a new device.
